StarBand®
Installer Certification |
| When
you purchase a StarBand® system, you will become certified
as a StarBand® installer and authorized to move your system across
the country. The training materials for the StarBand® certification
are available online. Here is an overview of the process for getting
your StarBand® installer certification: |
-
-
StarBand® 360 - You will need to first get your StarBand® 360 certification. At
the top, click on "StarBand® Installation Training"
and then scroll down for the StarBand® 360 training. You can scroll down a little further, if you want to download the
full StarBand® 360 training material. Then, you won't need to be
online, until you are ready to take the exam. Additionally, we can send you these materials on a CDROM. Just send an email or
call, to request it.
-
StarBand® 360 Qualification Exam - The first exam is at the very
end of the 360 training materials and when you pass with
a score of 85% or better in each section, it will give you an authorization code,
to take the actual exam online. You can take either exam as many times as you want.
-
StarBand® 360 Certification Exam - When
you have your authorization code, again go to the training URL shown
above, but this time click on the choice to take the exam: StarBand®
Certification Test. When you register for the exam, you will
need to provide the authorization code. When you are asked about
dealer affiliation, just select "Other" and type
"Mobile Internet Satellite" in the text field. Again, you must receive a score of 85% or better in each section.
-
StarBand® Nova Exam - The StarBand® Nova training is available online and as a download. The materials and exam are fairly brief, but informative.

| NOTE: Make sure you DO NOT have popup blockers on or you won't
be able to finish the installer registration, after you pass the exam. It is also suggested that you first review
the Installation Training and Certification FAQs, which are also
available via the training page referenced above. |
StarBand/HughesNet Hands-on
Training |
We will provide the hands-on training on
how to set up your StarBand® or HughesNet system. You will also receive a soft copy of
the appropriate SMSN Mobility User Guide, which provides extensive detail
on mobile installations and on how to properly point your dish and get
online, after each move. The setup process is fully documented in text and
photographs. More about SMSN below.
A typical hands-on
training session consists of one assisted setup, including an explanation
of each step and answers to all of your questions. After this initial
setup, the system will be dismantled and you will be instructed to
set it up and get back online. For StarBand®, you will then verify that your setup meets
the criteria. For HughesNet, you cannot get back online until you meet the criteria for proper setup.
It is highly
recommended that you plan on staying in the area of the installation
and training for at least 24 hours, to allow time for a minimum of
two unassisted setups, where your trainer is readily available to
help, if you run into any problems.
Our objective in
the hands-on training is for you to drive away with your new two-way satellite system, feeling completely comfortable and competent, to set
up your system at your next stop.

StarBand/HughesNet Customer
Support |
We are founding members of the Satellite Mobility Support Network (SMSN), an alliance of two-way satellite dealers and installers.
We currently have four StarBand® dealers as members and several StarBand® and HughesNet installers.
Our primary objective is to provide excellent service and support to
all of our customers, doing installs, training, and supplying after-market
products, as well.
This means that
if you have any issues with your two-way satellite system, there will
be someone available to help you. If your installer or dealer is not
available and your issue cannot wait, you will have the backup support
of any member of the SMSN alliance.
Your installer and dealer are your first line of support, but you will also have StarBand®'s or HughesNet's technical and
customer support organizations available to you, for non-pointing/getting
online issues. |
